Animals

Little Smarties is registered by DEFRA to act as a home for its two pigs and two pygmy goats.  We also have a pig-walking permit!

The pigs (called Pepper and Georgie) are Kune-Kune pigs which originate from New Zealand and are known for their weird hair!  We bought them from Cotswold Wildlife Park in 2006 as piglets and they are now very fully grown.  The children feed them and enjoy communicating with their loud grunting noises.

Our pygmy goats (called Coca and Channel) are both female and are twins.  We bought them from a breeder in Tavistock when they were only a month old.  They live in a small shed at the side of the paddock.  The children enjoy feeding and stroking them and we take care to show them how to treat them with respect.

The animals are quite safe, although if you are pregnant, you should avoid touching the goats.

Children always wash their hands after they have been in contact with the animals.
